The driver who mowed down pedestrians during a clearance sale indicted

In the aftermath of the dramatic accident which left one dead and five injured on Sunday at the Etel flea market (Morbihan), the driver was indicted on Monday for “manslaughter by driver and involuntary injuries by driver”, indicated to our colleagues from West France the public prosecutor of Lorient. The 81-year-old man was subsequently released and placed under judicial supervision.

Sunday afternoon, the octogenarian had lost control of his vehicle at a platform where a garage sale was held. Several pedestrians had been mowed down, including one fatally, an 86-year-old exhibitor. Five people aged 31 to 87 were also injured, including one transported in absolute emergency.

After the accident, the driver’s alcohol test was negative. To shed light on this tragedy, the investigations will now continue “within the framework of the judicial information”, specifies the prosecution.
