The diagnosis: A young woman repeatedly suffers from cancerous tumors

A young woman had twelve different tumors since childhood. A specialist finds out the reason and learns a lot for the future himself.

I immediately noticed how small the patient was when I met her for the first time in our office hours a few years ago. The then late 20-year-old was only 1.46 meters tall and weighed 44 kilograms. Large brown spots spread across her skin, we medical professionals call them café-au-lait spots. Her knees and soles of her feet were raw and scaly, and one arm showed a bulge under the skin near the elbow: a benign bone tumor, I learned from the parents who were accompanying their daughter.
