The diagnosis: A woman suffers from unbearable abdominal pain

For years she has suffered from abdominal pain, which gets worse with menstruation. The pain is so unbearable that the woman is unable to work – until a doctor recognizes the problem on a two-year-old MRI scan.

This is my last hope, I can’t take it anymore – that’s how a young woman sent us an email. When she came to the clinic a few days later, she told her story: she had suffered from pain in her lower abdomen since she was young. They were mostly dull, sometimes throbbing or stabbing. More left than right. Over time they got stronger. During her menstruation, the woman was regularly on sick leave for three to four days.

32851650, had no partner as she also experienced pain during intercourse. They were particularly bad when standing and sitting. But she had to sit down at work, and at some point she was no longer able to do that either. She became unable to work.
