Like that of all people hospitalized with the disease, the number of coronavirus patients in intensive care units continues to decline slowly, according to
Public Health France figures published this Wednesday.

Critical care services (which combine resuscitation, intensive care and continuous monitoring) had 5,402 patients against 5,504 on Tuesday and 5,630 on Monday.

The number of patients in sharp decline

This is the lowest figure since April 5, when 5,433 patients were counted in these services welcoming the most serious cases. We are thus moving away from the 6,000 mark and the alarming peak of the first wave of April 2020 (around 7,000).

The total of Covid patients at the hospital is also down sharply, to 27,686 from 28,427 on Tuesday and 28,950 on Monday. A week ago, hospitals were welcoming more than 30,000 Covid patients.
