Three actresses played Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II in six seasons of “The Crown”. They appear together in the finale.

Today, December 14th, the last episodes of the royal series “The Crown” started on Netflix, which is coming to an end after six seasons. At the finale, viewers can expect a special highlight: all three actresses in the popular series about the British royal family Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) can be seen together. Imelda Staunton (67) will be accompanied by her colleagues Olivia Colman (49) and Claire Foy (39) in the second part of the final season when all three “Queen Elizabeths” unite.

The Queen looks back on her reign

As the trailer revealed, Staunton’s Queen Elizabeth will be confronted by versions of herself from days gone by (played by Colman and Foy). The streaming service has revealed little in advance about how the three queens will interact and in what context their meeting will take place – but a photo shared before the start of the final episodessuggests it could be a reflective moment as the monarch looks back on her decades-long reign.

“The Crown” already used a trick in the first part of the finale, which was shown in November, and had Princess Diana (1961-1997) return as a “ghost” after her accidental death.

Imelda Staunton played Queen Elizabeth II in the fifth and sixth seasons, Olivia Colman was seen in the role in seasons three and four; Claire Foy had previously played the young monarch.

Focus on recent events

In the second half of the final season, the royal events of the recent past are discussed, such as the wedding of Charles (75) and Camilla (76) in 2005 and the love story of William (42) and Kate (42).
