The court orders the end of the occupation of the Gardanne coal plant

The Aix-en-Provence court on Tuesday ordered the end of the occupation of the Gardanne coal-fired power station, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, “under penalty of a fine of 2,000 euros per day and per nobody, ”according to a press release from the site’s parent company, GazelEnergie.

At the call of the CGT, strikers broke into this site last week, one of the last coal-fired power stations in France, where a hundred jobs will be cut. Contacted by 20 minutes last week, however, the union refused the term “occupation” and preferred to refer to “securing” the site.
