Emirates airline boss Tim Clark simply had to get rid of his idea. And so, a few weeks ago, he boarded the plane with a few documents in his luggage to meet with Airbus Sales Director Christian Scherer. Clark once wrote it down as a remake of the Airbus A380 could look like and wanted to make it palatable to the Airbus manager. Airbus would build the thing, and Emirates would buy it — much like how legendary Pan-Am boss Juan Trippe got Boeing to build the jumbo jet in the mid-1960s 747 to develop.
