The city of Royan lowers the temperature of its municipal buildings by one degree

“In support of Ukraine”, the City of Royan (Charente-Maritime) has decided to lower the temperature of its municipal buildings by one degree in order to “limit” Russian imports, we learned on Monday from the town hall.

The city’s decision, led by Patrick Marengo (LR), was taken “in order to generate a substantial saving in consumption and thus participate in the collective effort which tends to limit Russian imports as much as possible”, according to a press release.

“It was the mayor who made this decision after hearing the radios and calls to reduce gas consumption,” said Hubert Thomas, director general of services in this town of 18,500 inhabitants. The drop, from 19 to 18 degrees, has affected all municipal buildings since Thursday where nearly 400 people work, with the exception of those intended for childcare, he added.
