The cinema festival lures with tickets for 5 euros, Munich cinemas are taking part – Munich

It may only be September, but the word of the year should be clear: the “rescue package” is omnipresent, in 2022 nobody can actually outrank it. It is so popular, even at traffic lights that are rarely seen, that a new one is published almost every day, for bakers, pensioners or gas importers. The cinemas are also calling for rescue, they are suffering from the consequences of the pandemic, many viewers have not come back. Streaming competition and energy costs don’t make things any better.

But now they’re going to save themselves: the “Cinema Festival” will take place at the weekend (September 10th and 11th), and films will be shown nationwide for a special price of five euros. Many cinemas in Munich are also participating, popcorn strongholds like that Cinemaxx or Royalbut also arthouse cinemas like that theatine, City, Rex, Leopold or Isabella. The operators have come up with some ideas: In addition to the regular program, previews are shown (François Ozon’s “Peter von Kant” in the arenaUlrich Seidl’s “Rimini” im Maxim or the German bestseller adaptation “Mittagsstunden” in the Rio and Filmeck Gräfelfing), also classics like “Pulp Fiction” or “Grease” (both in arrive) are on the program.

The largest cinema in the city is also there: Im Mathäser there are many children’s films or a “Top Gun” double feature. And in the Gloria Palast at the Stachus there will be a reading with Barbara Wussow, followed by a presentation of the “Black Forest Clinic“, for which the actress is known. Since the reactions so far have been so positive, there will be another cinema festival in 2023. And that’s nice.
