The cherry trees are blooming in the Olympic Park – Munich

Now it’s Hanami again in the Olympic Park – the Japanese word means “to look at blossoms”, and nowhere else in Munich is that more magnificent: the Olympic cherry trees are in full bloom. The trees actually came to Bavaria from Japan, the city of Sapporo gave them to the people of Munich because the two metropolises hosted the Olympic Games in 1972, the Japanese in winter and the Bavarians in summer. On this occasion, the two cities established a partnership that has lasted to this day. Most visitors to the Olympic Park are probably not aware of this connection; They approach the delicate white and pink blooming splendor with their camera and mobile phone or simply enjoy the pastel romance. The bees, on the other hand, have other things to do: They collect the nectar as food for themselves and their offspring and thus also spread the pollen from one tree to the other.
