The CGT slams the door of negotiations with the management of TotalEnergies

The CGT negotiators left around 2 a.m. on Friday the first negotiations between the unions and the management of TotalEnergies, dissatisfied with the proposals for wage increases made by the oil group in an attempt to end the strike and put an end to the fuel shortage.

“The proposals that are on the table are largely insufficient,” said Alexis Antonioli, a CGT negotiator, denouncing a “masquerade”, before leaving the group’s headquarters at La Défense to go to sleep.

But inside remained the negotiators of two reformist and majority unions, CFE-CGC and CFDT, which could, according to the CGT negotiators, sign an agreement with the management… as was the case at ExxonMobil.

“A bargain deal”

“These unions that would come to sign an agreement at a discount, it will not change anything in the mobilization, it will not change anything in the state of mind and the determination of the strikers”, predicted Alexis Antonioli, now hoping “the generalization movement.”

The movement launched by the CGT has in fact already turned into calls for a general strike, and next Tuesday will be a big day of national strike, from transport to civil servants, following the call Thursday from four major unions (CGT, FO , Solidaires, FSU) and several youth organisations. Tuesday’s strike will particularly affect the SNCF and the RATP.

The government had pressed strongly for these negotiations to begin, and Emmanuel Macron assured that the return to normal would take place “in the course of the coming week”.
