The center of tropical storm Fiona should pass over the south of Grande Terre

The levels of vigilance are still the same: yellow vigilance for waves of submersion and violent winds, orange vigilance for heavy rains and thunderstorms. The Prefecture should soon specify the level of vigilance in which Guadeloupe will be placed from 6 p.m. before being impacted by the more significant effects of storm Fiona.

The last points made by the Prefecture of Guadeloupe are as follows:

Storm Fiona was at 4 p.m. this Friday, September 16, 2022, 200 km from Guadeloupe. It is subjected to shear forces which prevent its reinforcement.

Its trajectory now takes it further north with the passage from the center to the south of Grande-Terre towards the Grand cul de sac marin

The storm is expected to arrive in the early evening. We are also expecting a significant accumulation of rain during the second part of the night.

The expected gusts of wind should reach 100 to 120 km (especially in the second part of the night)

Remember that the SDIS has positioned rescue divers on CAPEX. More than 81 additional agents have been deployed mainly in the Southern Islands.
