Amanda Knox became world famous in 2007 as a defendant in the Meredith Kercher murder case.

The American was sentenced to 26 years in prison by an Italian court in 2009.

Her appearance in the courtroom earned her the nickname “angel with the ice eyes”.

In 2011, an appeals court overturned the verdict. Knox returns to the United States after nearly four years in prison.

The case continues to make its way through the courts: in 2015 she was acquitted of the murder charge by the Supreme Court of Cassation.

In 2019, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Italy had to pay Knox over 18,000 euros in compensation.

The reason: The Italian authorities had violated several human rights when questioning Knox.

Also in 2019, Knox speaks at a convention on miscarriages of justice in Italy.

In 2020, Knox married the poet Christopher Robinson in the US metropolis of Seattle.

She works as a freelance journalist and author.
