The Earth Uprisings, 1. Gérald Darmanin, 0. After the suspension of the dissolution of the Earth Uprisings pronounced by the Council of State last August, the first round ended this Thursday. The fight that had been going on before the administrative courts for five months between the environmental movement and the Minister of the Interior finally ended with the pure and simple cancellation of the dissolution decree issued in June.
Civil disobedience strengthened?
Not “suitable”, nor “necessary”, nor “proportionate”. It is in these terms that the Council of State judged the decision to dissolve the Uprisings of the Earth taken by the State, three months after the violent clashes between the police and activists in Sainte-Soline. “This final decision is a victory and a relief,” exclaimed Raphaël Kempf, lawyer for the environmental movement, in front of the camera. 20 minutesat the end of the hearing.
For the magistrate, this is “a form of snub for Gérald Darmanin”. By making this decision, the Council of State also “legitimized a certain dose of calls for civil disobedience and disarmament”, he believes.
