The cable requirement will no longer apply – what the providers are now planning to do – economy

In four months, the cable requirement will no longer apply: twelve million tenants will suddenly have the freedom to choose how they receive television. Markus Oswald, head of Telecolumbus, number two in Germany, explains what is happening now.

This is what you know as a tenant in an apartment building: TV comes into the living room via cable connection and the additional costs are paid for in the bill. But in just four months, from July of this year, the cable requirement will no longer apply. Tenants can then choose for themselves how they want to receive television. An estimated twelve million customers are affected. And the cable providers with their previously secure business? The industry is facing unprecedented upheaval.
