The broadcast date of Alain Chabat’s “Asterix” series is known

Finally a date for the fans. The animated series Asterix directed by Alain Chabat will be broadcast on the Netflix platform in the first half of 2025, the publisher of the famous comic book hero announced on Saturday.

The series will be an adaptation of the album “Le Combat des chefs”, published in 1966. Netflix announced this series in March 2021. The release date has been postponed several times, the last date announced was 2024.

“It is in Toulouse, within the TAT studio, that the series is currently produced. See you on screens in the first half of 2025,” said the Albert René publishing house in a press release.

Asterix enjoyed great popular success this year with the film Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom, directed by Guillaume Canet. Released in February, it accumulated 4.6 million admissions in France, the biggest success in French cinema this year. In 2002, Asterix and Obelix: Cleopatra missiondirected by Alain Chabat, had attracted nearly 25 million admissions worldwide.

In bookstores, the Gaul is the undisputed star of comics. “L’Iris blanc”, 40th album released at the end of October, needed less than a month to reach one million copies sold, and should undoubtedly finish as the best-selling book in France in 2023.

Editions Albert René are celebrating the 65th anniversary of Asterix in 2024 with, among other things, expanded reissues of five albums, including the first, “Asterix the Gaul”, on January 17.

In Paris, in October, the Atelier des Lumières will present an immersive Asterix exhibition, and the Grévin museum will unveil statues of Asterix, Obelix and Dogmatix.
