Bounty hunter Boba Fett has long been a cult with Star Wars fans. Now he is getting his own series on Disney +, as a “Mandalorian” spin-off.

A post-credit scene at the end of the second season of “The Mandalorian” had announced its own series about the “Star Wars” bounty hunter Boba Fett. Disney + has now published the first trailer for the “Mandalorian” spin-off “The Book of Boba Fett”, which will start on the streaming service on December 29, 2021.

The appetizer at the end of the “Mandalorian” season finale showed how Bobba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand conquered the palace of gang boss Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine.

The story of “The Book of Boba Fett” according to the trailer

The trailer now shows how Boba wants to prove himself on the throne of his former client Jabba. Boba promises the criminals and headhunters of the desert planet a change of course: “Jabba ruled through fear. I intend to rule through respect”. Boba wants a collaboration that will make all of the Hutten’s former subordinates rich. But not everyone in the underworld seems to like that. Boba and Fennec end up in an ambush. But that can’t stop the two, as the action-packed teaser suggests.

That’s behind the “Boba Fett” series

A solo appearance by Boba Fett, who became a cult figure through his appearances in the classic “Star Wars” trilogy of the 70s and 80s, has been planned for a long time. A film about the helmeted bounty hunter was originally planned. But after the flop of the Han Solo film “Solo: A Stars Wars Story”, the makers withdrew.

In the second season Boba Fett was introduced to the “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian”, played by Temuera Morrison (60). The New Zealander played Boba’s father, Jango Fett, in “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” in 2002. Morrison is of course also the bounty hunter in the new series, at his side is Ming-Na Wen (57) as Fennec Shand, as in “The Mandalorian”.
