The past gaming year was quite colorful and gaudy, 2022 will be noticeably darker. But that’s by no means negative – because the year was clearly worth it for players on all platforms, i.e. Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5, PC and Nintendo Switch! Video games for the PC
Even if consoles are constantly evolving and, strictly speaking, you no longer need a gaming computer for the price of three Playstation consoles, the “gaming PC” is still a dominant platform. This also means that many titles that were eligible for the “Game of the Year” – and the winner – can of course also be found on Steam and Co. If you have a powerful computer, it’s worth taking a look at “God of War”, “Elden Ring” and “stray”. With “Return To Monkey Island” there is also the sequel to an absolute classic to discover and the recently released “next-gen patch” for “Witcher 3” is also worth a look.
Xbox Series X/S and Sony Playstation 5 must-haves
A lot has happened with the “next-gen” consoles in 2022, even if Sony has significantly more exclusive titles than Microsoft. Don’t miss out on the PS5 “Horizon Forbidden West” and “God of War Ragnarok”. If all the games are too easy for you, check it out “Elden Ring” bite your teeth. Hardly any major exclusive titles were released for the Xbox Series X/S in 2022, critics particularly praised “As Dusk Falls” – and Microsoft has promised supplies for 2023.
Highlights for Nintendo Switch
As usual, 2022 was colorful on the Nintendo Switch. with “Splatoon 3” there is the sequel to the successful color shooter, pink cuddly Kirby was also allowed in “Kirby and the Forgotten Land” 2022 for the first time with a 3D adventure on the switch. For Pokémon fans, the year was also worthwhile because it started with “Pokémon Legends Arceus” and ended – somewhat awkwardly – with “Pokémon Crimson and Crimson”.
