“The Bear” wins the Emmy Awards

The Emmy Awards were presented in Los Angeles. The winner of the evening was the series “The Bear” with ten awards alone. The presenter’s mother also played an important role.

This year’s Emmy Awards begin with a warning: “We have 27 categories, which means 27 acceptance speeches,” says the evening’s moderator, US actor and comedian Anthony Anderson. “If someone gets too long, my mother intervenes.”

And his mother also shows what she can do: “The time’s up, baby!”, she interrupts her overly exuberant thanks. “Time’s up, baby!” The mother has authority.

Jennifer Coolidge wins an Emmy for her role in “The White Lotus” – a series about a dream vacation that turns into a horror trip. “I love you baby, but time,” echoes the mother. “I just want to say one more thing: It worked – don’t stop dreaming,” Coolidge quickly concludes.

Ten Emmys for “The Bear”

The big winner at the “Emmys” this year is “The Bear”. The series won a total of ten awards – including for the best comedy series. Jeremy Allen White plays the head chef of a high-end restaurant who takes over his sandwich shop after his brother’s death. He prepared for the role in a star restaurant and received an award for it. He politely thanks everyone.

But you can also use a thank you speech in other ways. Kieran Culkin explains to his wife on stage that he loves her – and that he wants to have more children with her. Culkin wins an Emmy for his role in Succession. The already completed series had the most nominations and won a total of six awards. Including the one for best drama series. It’s about a media billionaire who wants to arrange his successor.

The best short series this year is called “Beef” and comes from Korean director Lee Sung Jin. In it, a man and a woman first clash in traffic in Los Angeles and then get into an argument. “Beef” won a total of eight Emmys. The three-hour series has many funny moments.

An emotional evening

Meanwhile, Anderson’s mother continues to do a good job and also has presenter John Oliver under control, who wins a prize for his show and teasingly provokes the evening’s timekeeper: “I’m not leaving here until Anthony Anderson’s mother sends me off the stage – me Now read out the entire Arsenal football team!”

Quinta Brunson is the first black woman to win an Emmy for best actress in a comedy series in more than 30 years – she starred in “Abbot Elementary.” It’s the most emotional moment of the evening. She didn’t prepare anything, Brunson says at the microphone. And if you don’t know what to do because of all the emotions, then definitely thank your parents. Not even the moderator’s mother intervenes.

Quinta Brunson becomes the first black woman to win an Emmy for best lead role in a comedy series.

A love letter to television

The Emmys were presented for the 75th time. The organizers promised a love letter to television – and it worked quite well: actors from legendary US series come together again in the appropriate settings and present nominees.

Elton John is now an “EGOT” award winner thanks to his Emmy win

Elton John won an award for broadcasting his final concert at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. He now belongs to the small circle of so-called “EGOT” winners. These are artists who have won at least one Grammy, Oscar, Tony and Emmy Award each. The musician is the 19th “EGOT” award winner.
