The Asvel club condemned for the “wrongful dismissal” of its coach Zvezdan Mitrovic

Two years after the departure of its fiery coach Zvezdan Mitrovic, who had been replaced on the bench by TJ Parker, Asvel has just been sentenced on Wednesday for “wrongful dismissal”. The industrial tribunal of Lyon has indeed condemned Tony Parker’s club to pay 481,464 euros to the Montenegrin coach, as announced on Twitter by Me Xavier Le Cerf-Galle.

On May 20, 2020, the fiery coach was dismissed for “serious misconduct” by his famous president, when the competitions had just been stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The technician’s contract, also signed by AS Monaco, and champion of France in 2019 with Asvel, then ran until June 2021.

Tony Parker spoke of “boundaries crossed” in 2020

At the time, “TP” remained vague on the reasons for this decision, referring to “boundaries crossed” and “things negotiated with him before his contract” that the coach had “not respected”. He then clarified that the dismissal was not linked to the results of the club, then co-leader of the French championship and 15th out of 18 in the Euroleague.

“The industrial tribunal has granted [à Mitrovic] the indemnity due to any employee on fixed-term contract who is subject to unfair dismissal. We are therefore satisfied on this point, ”said the coach’s lawyer on Wednesday, however regretting not having obtained the damages claimed by his client, today without a club.
