On September 20, 1973, The pain in the ass hit French screens. This film by Edouard Molinaro, written by Francis Veber, propelled an unforgettable suicidal Jacques Brel into the hands of a hitman Lino Ventura, prevented from completing his dirty work. This hairy comedy is one of the great films filmed in Montpellier (Hérault), with Two men in the city (1973), The man who loved women (1977) and Didier (1997).
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film’s release in theaters, a digital version of The pain in the ass is screened in Montpellier this Friday (8:30 p.m.), outdoors, on Place Max-Rouquette (free) and on September 19 (2 p.m.) at Nestor-Burma cinema (4 to 6 euros).
