“The Amigos”: cancer drama! Singer Karl-Heinz mourns the loss of his wife Doris | Entertainment

She lost her brave battle against cancer.

Karl-Heinz Ulrich (75), part of Germany’s most successful hit duo The Amigos (15 number 1 albums) mourns the loss of his wife Doris (†71), to whom he was married for 44 years.

As BILD exclusively learned, she died of liver failure as a result of cancer. Doris fell asleep peacefully and without pain surrounded by her family in a clinic in Hesse.

Karl-Heinz Ulrich to BILD: “Doris fought and yet lost. Unfortunately we had to let her go. I miss her terribly.” His only consolation: “She’s fine where she is now! She’s still with us.”

The drama began in November 2021 when Doris felt a lump in her breast. The shocking diagnosis quickly came: cancer! A treatment marathon followed with radiation, hormone therapy, removal of the lymph nodes and chemo tablets. Her husband: “But Doris wanted to live, fought and was full of hope! Me too. We stuck together as a family. You can only get through this together.”

In the summer of 2022 the setback: the cancer had spread. Ulrich: “That was a shock!” But his wife remained brave. “She did everything and never complained. Luckily she was pain-free. The hair fell out, the nails broke. But she was convinced: It will happen again. I’ll go through with it!”

Doris walked 10,000 steps a day to strengthen her bones and train her muscles. In fact, the metastases no longer grew. Her biggest motivation: She didn’t want to leave her beloved Karl-Heinz alone. “Doris always hoped that the chemo would save me.”

But at the end of 2023, her liver was also affected. “Suddenly the metastases were everywhere,” says the singer, his voice choked with tears. “They had spread too quickly and too aggressively.” His wife remained optimistic. Even when she had to go to the hospital a few days before her death. “She wanted to be cared for there and was fully expecting to be released again.” But things turned out differently.

On February 14th she will be buried in the cemetery in Villingen (Hungen) with her family. He and his brother Bernd (73) have postponed all appearances as Amigos until the end of February. Karl-Heinz still can’t imagine being on stage again.

But the singer knows: “Somehow it has to go on. Doris loved that, exactly that life.”
