The Amazon Premium Spirits Advent Calendar will also attract all friends of high-proof creations in Advent 2023 with fine gin miniatures, whiskey tasters, exotic rum, grappa and other liquid delicacies. In our test, we’ll reveal which delicacies the shipping giant has hidden in the 24 boxes this time, how much space you need for the mini bar and who will benefit from the calendar with plenty of turns and a special surprise. Because we have already inspected Amazon’s premium Advent calendar for adults – and discovered several highlights.
Unsurprisingly, there are also 24 miniature bottles in the colorful surprise boxes this year. 21 of them contain 5 centiliters (cl), on two days 4 cl has to be enough to try it, the fruity aperitif comes in a 6 cl bottle. Altogether it makes just under 1.2 liters to taste and enjoy. So it’s all set for a three-week tasting of fine single malts, spicy juniper creations and one or two rums with a lot of punch.
Amazon Premium Spirits Advent Calendar: The Design
You have to clear a little space for Amazon’s spirits calendar this year too. But the surprise box has not been as space-saving as this time in recent years. Almost square and with a footprint of 30 by 30 centimeters, you can find a corner on every sideboard or window sill. As usual, the bottles are hidden in cardboard boxes of different sizes, with six on each side. The minibar set was packaged separately and embedded in the middle and the booklet was prominently placed as a lid. This time the designers designed the boxes in bright colors. At first glance, you don’t necessarily think it’s a calendar full of schnapps. But in contrast to the black cardboard, we were able to get used to it. Commendable: The 24 boxes (and the large box) can be reused next year as an Advent calendar with new content.
Spirits Advent Calendar: How much premium is in it?
This year we’re heading across the world map with the Amazon Premium Spirits Advent Calendar. Four continents are traveled to culinary delights. And among the 24 original miniatures are some premium products. When it comes to whiskey in particular, the spirits experts at Amazon didn’t miss out. Eight small bottles, including exceptional malts from Denmark, Australia and the United Kingdom, have landed a box in the calendar. Plus four rum minis, some of which are unusual, and a small selection of gin classics. Less premium, but no less popular are the liqueurs and four small, local delicacies from Italy, Greece and Finland. We won’t reveal anything more at this point.

The highlights in the Amazon Premium Advent Calendar 2023
In our opinion, the once again exquisite whiskey selection, a rum from the Caribbean and a special eggnog are the highlights in the Amazon Spirits Advent Calendar 2023. This year the favorite also comes from our Danish neighbors. After the “Koas” sends Stauning whiskey from Stjern this time “Smoke” into the race. The 0.7 liter bottle costs just under 80 euros. Sounds steep at first. In return, curious whiskey drinkers get a mildly smoked single malt made from West Jutland barley. The fine wine is distilled over flame-heated pot stills. And that twice. For everyone who wants more after the tasting bottle: here it is Stauning Smoke in the standard version.
From the Hebrides Island Raasay comes another whiskey highlight among the 24 original miniatures. The Isle of Raasay Single Malt The taste is supposed to be reminiscent of sweet and salty popcorn, among other things. It is neither colored nor chill-filtered and is produced exclusively with raw materials from the island. The bottle design alone is an eye-catcher.
Rum fans will also get their money’s worth in the Amazon Premium Spirits Advent Calendar. Perhaps the most exciting tasting sip among the four bottles is this Mount Gay 1703 XO Triple Cask. The sugar cane schnapps comes from the Caribbean island of Barbados and leaves a lasting impression thanks to its rich amber color. The Mount Gay 1703 XO Triple Cask With 43 percent alcohol by volume, it was stored mainly in oak barrels and is said to be reminiscent of roasted cashew nuts in addition to sweet notes.
Last but not least, we want one Advocaat from Roner. Like 22 other spirits, Udo Lindenberg’s favorite drink is hidden in Amazon’s spirits advent calendar for the first time. Bombardino is the name of the golden-yellow fabric from South Tyrol. According to Roner, both the milk and eggs come from local animals. The kick comes in the case of Bombardino the rum, the proportion of which is stated on the bottle as 7 percent.

Conclusion: Who is the 2023 calendar worth it for?
In 2023, Amazon will also be relying entirely on unusual whiskey miniatures in its premium Advent calendar. In addition to fans of fine single malts, in our opinion the calendar also meets the tastes of rum fans. There are also three good, but far less surprising juniper classics aka gin. An insider tip (and surprise for liqueur lovers) is an eggnog refined with rum from the traditional Roner distillery in South Tyrol. All in all, the Amazon Premium Spirits Advent Calendar 2023 is worthwhile for curious, adventurous and experienced connoisseurs.
As an extra, Amazon has included a three-piece cutlery set for the minibar at home with the calendar. In addition to the shaker, this includes a mixing spoon and a jigger for measuring. Cocktail recipes and information about the spirits in the calendar can be found in the 50-page booklet, which, like the calendar itself, is visually bold and colorful.
