  • Karima Delli, MEP environmentalist, is the head of the list of the union of the left for regional in Hauts-de-France.
  • The program on its list is resolutely green, with, in particular, the development of renewable energies and the creation of 100,000 green jobs.
  • An important part of her program concerns young people for whom the candidate offers, among other things, free transport.

A background on ecology. Karima Delli is the figurehead of the union of the left and environmentalists for the regional elections in Hauts-de-France. Thursday evening, in the show of BFM Grand Lille, Political Lille, in partnership with 20 minutes, the candidate defended the program that she will oppose in particular to the outgoing president of the region, Xavier Bertrand.

Green European deputy for twelve years, Karima Delli suffers from a lack of notoriety among the inhabitants of the region which did not prevent her from achieving a unique feat in France for these elections: to unite the left and the ecologists. Given 3rd with 20% of the votes behind the candidate of the RN (2nd) and the outgoing president, Xavier Bertrand, the head of the list is not dismantled: “I am going to deny this poll, the alternative is us and now . The other candidates have only one focus, that of the Elysee. “

Wind turbines, yes, but not just any old way

On wind turbines, these masts of discord, Karima Delli tempers. “We need renewable energies but we can’t just say ‘we are for’. In particular for the park project off Dunkirk, it will be necessary to consult the citizens and accompany them ”, she assures. And if Xavier Betrand has been hostile to more wind turbines in the region, the ecologist castigates his alternative: “He wants to do an EPR. I tell you right away, me, president of the region, there will be none ”. For her, investing in renewable energies is betting on jobs of the future that cannot be relocated.

Greener and free transport for young people

Karima Delli promises free transport for those under 18. A measure that can be generalized to all inhabitants? “We start with the young,” she eludes. Aware of the problems of service in certain rural areas, the union of the left ensures that it will be necessary to reopen train lines. “Putting money on the train is not only good for the climate, but it also allows us to find relocation,” said the head of the list.

On opening up TER lines to competition, Karima Delli is fiercely against: “I am for a large public train service. In some countries that have been done, this has created security risks because the private sector does not want to invest in renovation, ”she insists.

“Green” jobs a dime a dozen

“I love my region and I see it sinking with more than 10% unemployed. Xavier Bertrand’s proch’Emploi is a useless and expensive gadget, ”deplores Karima Delli. It promises in particular a “young RSA” or some 100,000 green jobs and ensures that it can finance this: “We must already stop giving regional budgets to projects that are not worth it and make the subsidies conditional on social and environmental criteria. “. Saving is good, finding funds is better. To do this, it relies on European funds and the creation of an investment bank.

Salaried doctors against medical deserts

Against the medical deserts, the candidate of the left offers a “proximity health guarantee” with health centers in each basin of life “within 20 km”. It also intends to hire 200 doctors without however specifying at what salary. “In centers or nursing homes, doctors are part of a collective that allows them to have better living and working conditions”, she pleads.
