The actor Omar Sy and the series “Lupine” among the nominated, like Marion Cotillard and Tahar Rahim

The nominations for the 79th Golden Globes have just been announced, and several French people are in the selection. Starting with Omar Sy, nominated in the category “best actor in a dramatic series” for Lupine on Netflix. The series, meanwhile, will claim the title of “best drama series”, competing with The Morning Show, Post, Squid Game and Succession.

Marion Cotillard is also one of the nominated in the category “best actress in a film” for her role in Annette by Leos Carax, just like Tahar Rahim, nominated in the category “best actor in a mini-series” with The snake. To note that Titanium by Julia Ducournau, Palme d’Or at Cannes, was not nominated in the “best foreign language film” category. However, he can still claim the Oscars 2022.

Several nominations for “Squid game”

The phenomenon series Squid Game appears in three categories: “best drama series” (a first for a Korean series, note
Allocine), “Best Actor in a Drama Series” (Lee Jung-jae) and “Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” (Oh Yeong-su). Belfast by Kenneth Branag comes first with seven nominations, including “best dramatic film”, “best director” or “best screenplay”. It is followed by The Power of the Dog by Jane Campion, with six nominations for “best dramatic film”, “best screenplay” or even “best actor”, for Benedict Cumberbatch. This 79th ceremony will take place on January 9 but, for the first time, it will not be broadcast by NBC. The channel had given up broadcasting it last spring following revelations about the internal practices of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, criticized in particular for its notable lack of diversity. Several media, actresses and actors had called for a boycott of the ceremony. As Allociné reports, the association claims to have implemented changes in this direction, for example by integrating 21 new members.
