The accident of ponies of Saint-M’Hervé would be due to a “recklessness”

Three months after the violent scramble of ponies that occurred in an equestrian center in the town of Saint-M’Hervé, near Vitré (Ille-et-Vilaine), the investigators deliver their first conclusions. According to the Rennes prosecutor’s office, quoted by our colleagues from France Bleu Armorique, the accident, which injured 17 people, was due to a “recklessness” of the establishment. In question: the characteristics of the path leading the equines to the meadow. The layout of this access, long, narrow and fenced, does not allow rapid evacuation in the event of an incident, considers the prosecution.

The Haute-Hairie equestrian center will be prosecuted for involuntary injuries. A time pointed out by the justice system, the quality and legality of the supervision offered by the instructors, are ultimately not called into question by the investigation, specifies France Bleu.

Fifteen children were among the 17 victims. Three had to be hospitalized urgently. Twenty-six children aged 9 to 13 were staying in a summer camp in the town on the day of the incident.
