The A20 motorway will remain blocked for at least another week near La Croisière, between Haute-Vienne and Creuse

By burning tires and waste for several days, the farmers considerably damaged the roadway at La Croisière.

It has been a few days since the angry farmers deserted the blockade of La Croisière, on the A20 motorway, but the fires they lit were still burning this Thursday, February 1 when the services of the DIRCO (Interdepartmental Roads Directorate Center- West) have undertaken to clear the way.

What timetable?

At least eight days should be needed to return the highway to traffic. Firefighters began this Thursday morning to put out the fires to allow the waste to be removed.

A coring phase will follow to assess the extent of the fire damage to the bitumen, before planing the road this weekend and then applying a new coating next week.

Start of waste evacuation this Thursday, February 1st.

Alternative routes

After ten days of hardship, users who use the road daily will still have to be patient. In the south-north direction, they must currently exit at Razès to join the Cruise via the departmental road. In the other direction, they leave the highway at La Croisière and find it again at Bessines-sur-Gartempe.

To express their anger, the farmers organized a blockade at the Croisière from Tuesday January 23 to Sunday January 28, at the call of the Rural Coordination, thus paralyzing this strategic crossroads between the national 145 and the A20 motorway. DIRCO told us that it did not know the amount of damage caused by the blockage.
