“Deutschland sucht den Superstar” starts the final round. Some winners from previous seasons have made it to the top.

The 20th and final season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” starts on January 14 at 8:15 p.m. on RTL. Is there a music star with a great career slumbering in one of the participants? Some alumni have already done it for them. Musicians like Pietro Lombardi (30) or Beatrice Egli (34) used the show as a springboard for their successful career on stage.

Alexander Klaws

Alexander Klaws (39) was the first “DSDS” winner in history. He won the talent show in 2003 at the age of 20. His successful winning song “Take Me Tonight” came from jury veteran Dieter Bohlen (68). Today the ex-casting star is successful as an actor, singer and musical performer. After roles in the musicals “Tanz der Vampire”, “Tarzan” and “Ghost – Das Musical” he played Winnetou at the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg from June to September 2019. For two years he took on a leading role in the Sat.1 telenovela “Anna und die Liebe”. He also has a “Let’s Dance” victory and the triumph of “The Masked Singer” in 2021. In 2022 he released his new song “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.

Pietro Lombardi

Pietro Lombardi is one of the most successful “DSDS” winners of all time. More than ten years after his victory in 2011, the now 30-year-old continues to enjoy great popularity. In 2020 the artist released his third studio album “Lombardi”. This stayed in second place in the German charts for a whole 20 weeks. He also sat in the 16th and 17th season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” as a juror next to Dieter Bohlen, who also wrote numerous songs for the singer. In March 2022 he released his new single “I don’t let you go” and entered the top 20 of the single charts. The singer is currently expecting offspring with his fiancée Laura Maria and will be back as a juror in the 20th “DSDS” season.

Sarah Engels

While participating in “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” in 2011, Sarah Engels (30) and winner Pietro Lombardi were considered a dream couple. The runner-up and the winner married in 2013. Two years later, their son Alessio (7) was born before the couple divorced in 2019. But not only privately, a lot has happened in Sarah Engels’ life since the “DSDS” participation. The singer proved her fighting spirit in many TV formats such as “Das Große Promibacken”, “Dancing on Ice” or in 2020 as a skeleton on “The Masked Singer”. In each of these formats, Engels was also able to take home the win. The 30-year-old also seems to have found happiness privately: she has been married to soccer player Julian Engels (29), born Büscher, since May 2021. The couple became parents to a daughter in December of the same year.

luca Haenni

A year after Pietro Lombardi’s victory, the Swiss Luca Hänni (28) conquered the “DSDS” stage and the hearts of numerous fans. In 2012, the then 18-year-old won the final and landed a number one hit with the song “Don’t Think About Me” written by Bohlen. Hänni still seems to be running smoothly, both privately and professionally. After participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, where he took fourth place for Switzerland with “She Got Me”, he released his fifth studio album in 2020. In the spring of the same year he made it to third place with his dance partner Christina Luft (32) on “Let’s Dance”. The two announced their relationship in July 2020 and now live together and are engaged.

Beatrice Egli

Victory again went to Switzerland: Beatrice Egli (34) was the first pop singer to win the singing contest in 2013. In the course of her career she has already produced ten studio albums and these have regularly reached the top spots in the German and Austrian charts as well as in the charts in her Swiss homeland. Since 2019 she has been considered the most successful Swiss artist. From 2015 to 2017 she also produced musical journeys through her homeland and selected European cities for public television stations. Together with Bülent Ceylan (47), the pop singer presented “The ZDF Midnight Party” on New Year’s Eve in 2022.

Prince Damien

Before taking part in “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, Prince Damien (32) sniffed the air of casting for the first time: in April 2015 he applied to the British casting show “The X-Factor”. There he made it to boot camp. Just a few months later, the singer, who was born Messiah Prince Sheridan Damien Ritzinger, tried his luck on the German singing show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” – and won it in May 2016. The song “Glücksmoment” reached number one in the download charts. Prince Damien was not a flash in the pan. In 2016 he dubbed a frog in the animated film “Sing”, finished second together with Luca Hänni in the dance show “Dance Dance Dance” in 2017 and acted as a musical actor in the piece “The Band”. In 2020, the singer also became the king of the jungle and took part in the RTL show “Big Performance – Who is the star in the star?” part. From January 15th Prince Damien can be seen in “Dr. Bob’s Australia”. The well-known jungle camp doctor Dr. Bob (72) shows him and last year’s king of the jungle, Filip Pavlović (28), Western Australia. From the end of January he will also be on the jury in the new RTLzwei music show “Music Drive In” alongside Guildo Horn (59).

Ramon Roselly

Ramon Roselly (29) has already had a successful music career. The pop singer won the 17th season of the show in 2020. The son of a circus family set a record with his victory: he won with 80.82 percent of the audience votes – no one had won that high before him. The winning song ” Eine Nacht” made it straight to the top of the single charts, his debut album “Herzenssache” even achieved gold status in Germany and Austria. In 2021 he followed up with his second album. “Favorite Moments” made it to number two in the charts in Germany, and the album took number three in Austria and Switzerland.
