Anyone who wants to look forward often looks back. Volkstheater director Christian Stückl can do this with some satisfaction when presenting the new 2023/24 season. In 2022/23 the house did “relatively well,” he says. In numbers that means: eleven premieres, around 130,000 viewers, 82 percent capacity. In fact, it’s more than just “relatively good”, but so be it. The focus is on the new season, for which Stückl and his team have drawn up a plan with eleven premieres. Result: many large, old texts with a few more recent inserts.
