The 10,000 people hospitalized barrier once again crossed

Covid-19 figures from hospitals do not encourage optimism. The number of people hospitalized in France for this disease continued to increase on Monday, crossing the 10,000 mark, with 10,151 people affected, according to data from health authorities. This figure had not been reached since June 22.

A significant number of these hospitalizations are concentrated in the Bouches-du-Rhône, in the Paris region, in Guadeloupe, in Martinique or even in Reunion. In the past 24 hours, 950 new people have been hospitalized.

Some 1,908 people in critical care

The number of patients in critical care is also increasing, to 1,908 against 1,852 Sunday, and 178 new admissions in 24 hours. This indicator, closely scrutinized by the health authorities who want to avoid saturation of hospitals as in the West Indies, had fallen below the threshold of 1,000 patients on July 7.

The number of new people infected since Sunday stands at 5,829, with a positivity rate of 3.5% over the last seven consolidated days. The total of deaths is 112,798 since the start of the epidemic, with 97 more in 24 hours. Regarding vaccination, 46,494,384 people have received at least one injection (ie 69% of the total population) and 39,417,418 are fully vaccinated (ie 58.5% of the total population).
