TF1 will produce “La Yourte”, a reality show where celebrities go into eco-responsible mode

And if the cocorico came from Belgium for once? After convincing Belgian viewers in December 2022, the green reality show “La Yourte” will soon appear in France. TF1 has just acquired the rights to this programme, created and produced by RTBF. The four episodes of this program had managed to gather 16.4% audience share across the Quiévrain thanks to a prime time broadcast on Tipik, the second channel of Belgian public television.

Halfway between documentary and reality TV, the program features three celebrities immersed in a yurt, a traditional tent of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia, for five days and four nights. Beyond community life, they must comply with the lifestyle of a light habitat, which has a limited impact on the environment.

“The objective of this adventure is not to live in a different place, but to live differently”, revealed the Belgian public service when the program was launched at the end of 2022. During their stay, the celebrities take up quirky challenges on the theme of the environment. If they win them, they enable an association active in the field of sustainable development. If they fail, they lose comfort items in the yurt.

Entertainment at the heart of ecological issues

It is the format of the program, combining entertainment and ecological awareness, which seduced the front page. “We fell in love as soon as we saw the first images of” La Yourte “”, says Julien Degroote, director of development and creation of the TF1 group in a press release. He is delighted to adapt this format, which presents both the codes of “great family and popular entertainment” with an approach “raising awareness of ecological issues”.

Contacted by 20 minutes, the channel specifies that the work around this new show will be launched “in the coming months” for a broadcast “not before next year”. Nothing indicates whether the format is intended to be broadcast on TF1 or another group channel.

The Belgian version was embodied by the animator Adrien De Vyver. He was delighted to have contributed to a program which “makes it possible to raise awareness among candidates and the public about the adoption of more sustainable reflexes for the environment”. For the moment, the Bouygues group channel has not designated who will carry the French version or the first celebrities to challenge themselves.
