Failing to win, France in alpine skiing is doing well as the Olympic Games approach. Tessa Worley signed a second podium in a row by finishing 2nd on the giant in Kranjska Gora, while Alexis Pinturault hung the box on that of Adelboden, a lesser evil given the form of the defending champion.
Worley in great shape
After her victory last week in Lienz (Austria), Worley only came up against the Swedish Sara Hector, untouchable on Saturday and victorious with 96/100 ahead of the Frenchwoman. The Italian Marta Bassino completed the podium 1 sec 32/100 behind the winner.
At 32, Tessa Worley displays dazzling form and has just finished 5th, 4th, 1st and therefore 2nd of her last four giants, her strong discipline, of which she is the skier with the most victories on the circuit (15).
Pinturault is reassured (a little)
Alexis Pinturault regained the podium by finishing 3rd in the World Cup giant of Adelboden (Switzerland) on Saturday, while the Swiss Marco Odermatt again dominated his opponents.
In front of a wild crowd, Odermatt edged Austria’s Manuel Feller by 48/100 and Alexis Pinturault by 54/100. This is the second podium of the season for Pinturault in the specialty (2nd in Val d’Isère), who reassured himself on the last giant before the Beijing Olympics (February 4-20).
