Tesla, with its reputation for making and breaking, has reintroduced the very rare Long Range RWD version of the Model 3. This version, which combines a large capacity battery with a unique rear motor, offers an impressive range of more than 620 km, surpassing that of the Grande Autonomie AWD. In a surprising twist, Tesla confirmed to us that this version would not only be available for professionals, but also for individuals.
It’s always fascinating to see how much Tesla likes to play with our nerves. For those who have been too busy watching cat videos on the internet to keep up, until now the European Model 3 range consisted of three versions: the so-called ‘Propulsion’ Model 3, featuring a single engine and a “small” 60 kWh battery, the Grande Autonomie with two motors and a large 80 kWh battery, and the Performance, also equipped with two motors with the same battery.

But last April, Tesla decided to drive us a little crazier. The firm has reintroduced its most interesting version of the Model 3, the Grande Autonomie RWD (Propulsion). This variant, which combines a larger capacity battery (80 kWh) with a single rear motor, was withdrawn from the market in 2019. And why? To limit battery options to all-wheel-drive versions, more expensive for customers and therefore, you guessed it, a more profitable operation for Tesla.
40,990 euros with the ecological bonus for more than 620 km of autonomy
The Grande Autonomie RWD version offers a staggering autonomy of 620 km (WLTP) compared to 602 km for the Grande Autonomie AWD. Certainly 634 km with 18-inch rims.
And now hold on to your hat: this version will not only be available for professionals. No, no, it will also be available for individuals. Yes, you read correctly. The Model 3 Long Autonomy RWD will not be reserved for a few! It offers 620 km of WLTP autonomy, goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 233 km/h. All of this from 45,990 euros excluding bonuses, with deliveries expected to begin in June.
Which gives us 40,990 euros with the bonus. A price that, if we relate it to the autonomy, is simply unbeatable. Even the new Volvo XC40, which had already caused a stir with its SUV format, cannot compete.
Let’s add a detail that may surprise you: this new version of the Model 3 will not be directly available on the Tesla site. Yes, you read correctly. For some reason that only Elon Musk and his team know, to acquire this marvel of autonomy at an unbeatable price, you will have to either pick up your phone and call Tesla, or take a short detour to one of their dealerships.
There you have it, that’s the magic of Tesla. One day, we withdraw an option, the next day, we reintroduce it. All this to keep us in suspense, to make us vibrate with each new announcement.
