The terminal “00”, emblematic monument of the D-Day landings erected in the English Channel, was destroyed by a motorist during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, around 2 am, reports La Manche Press.
Located in front of the Utah Beach Museum, it is part of the series of kilometer markers installed along the “Way of Freedom” to commemorate the Allied victory.

“This morning, we saw on our surveillance video that a car had arrived from Sainte-Marie-du-Mont and did not stop at the” Stop “sign at the end of the street. It struck a stud then it continued and also struck terminal 00 ”, indicated the mayor of Sainte-Marie-du-Mont and the person in charge of the museum, quoted by the local newspaper.
Four people were in the vehicle. When the firefighters arrived, three of them had already left the scene. There was only an 18-year-old young man left. Injured in the accident, he was transported to the Pasteur hospital in Cherbourg.
