TER tickets by SMS or a simple phone call, it’s now possible

An innovation that will be appreciated by most travelers, especially those who are more resistant to Internet reservations. In Pays-de-la-Loire, SNCF now offers to receive its TER train tickets (Aléop network) by SMS or a simple encrypted code. This free service, operational since Monday, eliminates the need to collect your ticket at the station, to print it at home or to present a QR code.

How it works ? You just need to buy your ticket by phone by dialing 0800.210.280 at least two hours before departure. A telephone advisor will record the reservation which must be paid by credit card. An SMS serving as a valid ticket will then be sent to the buyer’s mobile phone.

One code may suffice

Better, for those who do not have a cell phone, a code to note will be transmitted orally. When the controller passes, all you have to do is present your SMS or communicate the code received to be in order. “A solution that facilitates the purchase of the ticket wherever you are”, boasts the SNCF.

The ticket by SMS is, on the other hand, neither exchangeable nor refundable and must be accompanied by an identity document. The telephone service operates Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. This innovation from SNCF in Pays-de-la-Loire is not a first in France. Similar systems exist in the Grand Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Occitanie regions.
