Eva Lys made a surprise at the start of the tennis tournament in Hamburg. The 21-year-old prevailed against the second-seeded Egyptian Mayar Sherif 6-1, 6-1 and was the fourth German player to reach the round of 16.

In front of her home crowd, the Hamburg native impressed from the start on Center Court and converted her first match point after 1:29 hours. The world rankings-167. Lys celebrated her first win at the Rothenbaum clay court event. She now meets Panna Udvardy from Hungary.
Jule Niemeier, Noma Noha Akugue and Tamara Korpatsch had previously made it into the top 16 of the women’s tournament, which was endowed with 235,680 euros.
