For Sabine Lisicki, tennis is no longer the focus. She is now preparing for something completely different.
Tennis player Sabine Lisicki is pregnant and expecting her first child.
“Life has many surprises in store for you, including this one. My fiancé and I are looking forward to the exciting journey,” the 34-year-old shared on Instagram on Friday. “That also means…that I have to make a comeback again,” she added with a smiling smiley.
It is questionable whether she will actually return to the tennis stage again. The Berliner has repeatedly had to deal with injuries and illnesses throughout her career. Last November, the former Wimbledon finalist finally won a tournament again after nine years when she was successful at the smaller ITF 100 event in Calgary, Canada.
Almost exactly three years to the day before this success, Lisicki seriously injured his knee and tore his cruciate ligament at the tournament in Linz at the end of 2020. This forced her to take a year and a half break. She won her last tournament in Hong Kong in 2014. Even after that, Lisicki repeatedly had to take breaks due to injuries. Lisicki is currently number 368 in the world rankings.
