Oscar Otte is in the round of 16 at the Munich tennis tournament. The 29-year-old Davis Cup pro, who reached the semi-finals last year, won against Argentinian clay court specialist Sebastian Baez 6: 3, 7: 5.

The man from Cologne converted his first match point after 1:26 hours and in the next round meets the Italian Flavio Cobolli, who is significantly worse placed. In the quarterfinals there could be a duel with Olympic champion Alexander Zverev.

For Otte, the first-round success in Munich was only the fourth win this year. Since his knee operation last summer, the German has been waiting for great success on the tour. Otte wants to use the tournament in Munich, worth around 560,000 euros, to regain his self-confidence.

Next to Otte, Yannick Hanfmann from Karlsruhe is already in the round of 16. Five other German professionals can follow suit.
