Spain’s tennis star Rafael Nadal has easily reached the round of 16 at the US Open in New York. The 22-time Grand Slam tournament winner clearly defeated Frenchman Richard Gasquet on Sunday night 6-0, 6-1 and 7-5. It was Nadal’s 18th win in the 18th duel against Gasguet, who has already won 15 professional tournaments in his career.

In the round of the top 16, a probably more difficult task awaits Nadal. On Monday, the 36-year-old meets the American Frances Tiafoe, who won in the third round against the number 14 seeded Argentinian Diego Schwartzman 7: 6 (9: 7), 6: 4, 6: 4.
For women, Olympic champion Belinda Bencic was eliminated. The 25-year-old Swiss lost her third round match against the Czech Karolina Pliskova 7: 5, 4: 6, 3: 6.
