Will Boris Becker actually return to the tennis tour as a coach? At least contact with Danish star Holger Rune has been intensive since they both completed a week of training in Monaco.

Aneke Rune, mother and manager of tennis star Holger Rune, was full of praise Boris Becker has been voiced as a possible new part-time coach for the Dane.

The German tennis icon and her son are “in daily contact,” Aneke Rune told the newspaper “Extra Bladet”. The starting point is good to build on.

Aneke Rune neither wanted to confirm nor deny a report from the TV channel Sky that Becker (55) would act as a so-called super coach alongside the current number six in the world rankings at selected tournaments. “All I can say at the moment is that they had a really good week of training.” The 20-year-old’s mother also confirmed this to the German TV station Sport1. “The chemistry was right, we saw that Holger played with passion, great energy and quality,” she said and said about Becker: “His knowledge is enormous and valuable.”

Becker himself has not yet commented

Aneke Rune revealed to the Danish broadcaster TV2 why she is concerned with a possible engagement of the three-time Wimbledon winner Becker: “Boris was also very young, even younger than Holger, when he achieved great success.” Becker himself has not yet commented on the speculation.

Becker was most recently back on duty as a television pundit after being released from prison for tax offenses in Great Britain last December. As a coach, the former world-class player celebrated success with the 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic (Serbia) between 2013 and 2016.
