Tennis: Boris Becker throws out! “I would like to inform you about this…” | Sports

That was a short interlude!

After just four months, tennis legend Boris Becker (56) is stepping down as coach of Holger Rune (20/Denmark). The three-time Wimbledon winner announced this on Tuesday on “X” (formerly Twitter).

There Becker writes: “I would like to announce that I will be stepping down as Holger Rune’s head coach with immediate effect. We started this partnership with the original goal of reaching the ATP Finals at the end of last year.”

Further: “But over time I realized that in order to be successful, I have to be available to Holger much more than I can. Due to professional and private commitments, I can’t give Holger what he needs right now. I wish him nothing but the best and will always be his #1 fan. I really appreciated this journey together.”

Last October, after a week of training together in Monte Carlo, Becker and Rune initially agreed to work together until the end of 2023, before they wanted to continue this for the current season. Now it’s over early.

Between 2013 and 2016, Becker worked as Novak Djokovic’s (36) coach. He celebrated several Grand Slam tournament victories with the Serbian top star.

Holger Rune, No. 7 in the world rankings, only separated from Severin Lüthi (48) last week, whom he brought into his coaching team shortly after Becker.
