Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev has won the Monte Carlo ATP tournament. The 25-year-old prevailed in the gripping final against the Dane Holger Rune (19) 5:7, 6:2, 7:5 and celebrated the 13th tournament victory of his career.

In his first Masters 1000 title, Rublev successfully fought back from a 1:4 deficit in the decisive set.

“In the third set I just hoped that I would have another chance to come back. And I did it in the end,” said Rublev happily: “I said to myself: If you lose today, then at least believe in yourself until the end. “

On the way to the final, Rublev had prevailed against Warsteiner Jan-Lennard Struff in the quarterfinals on Friday. Olympic champion Alexander Zverev from Hamburg was eliminated in the round of 16 against Russian Daniil Medvedev.
