Alcaraz and Murray easily continued at Wimbledon

World number one Carlos Alcaraz reached the second round in Wimbledon without much effort. The 20-year-old Spaniard defeated Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-0, 6-2, 7-5. He only had a few difficulties in the third set.
After 1:53 hours, Alcaraz, who recently won the preparatory tournament in Queens, converted his first match point on Court 1, which was covered because of the rain. For Chardy (36) it was the last game of his tennis career. The Frenchman had already announced in advance that Wimbledon would be his last tournament.
Crowd favorite Andy Murray easily and easily mastered his opening hurdle. The 36-year-old clearly won 6: 3, 6: 0, 6: 1 against his British colleague Ryan Peniston.
Defending champion Jelena Rybakina had a little more trouble than Alcaraz and Murray. The 24-year-old from Kazakhstan needed three sets against the American Shelby Rogers to move into the second round 4: 6, 6: 1, 6: 2 ahead of tennis legend Roger Federer, who was watching in the Royal Box. “I was very nervous today,” admitted Rybakina in view of Federer and Duchess Kate’s visit.
Aryna Sabalenka and Ons Jabeur also progressed among the women. World number two Sabalenka from Belarus won against Hungarian Panna Udvardy 6:3, 6:1, last year’s finalist Jabeur from Tunisia defeated Magdalena Frech from Poland 6:3, 6:3.
