There is no lack of conflict in the coalition. And in some cases the opponents have become so hopelessly entangled that nothing can progress at all. Now the Chancellor’s SPD party, which has fallen in the polls, is increasing the pressure on the FDP to make progress on one of its heartfelt issues – tenancy law. In the coalition agreement, the SPD, Greens and FDP agreed to limit rent increases more than before so that people with low incomes, families and students are not pushed out of inner cities even more.
