Caren Miosga traveled around Ukraine as a reporter and spoke to the people about their hopes and fears. On Wednesday evening she moderates the “Daily Topics” from Kyiv.

This Wednesday it is six months since Russia started the war of aggression against Ukraine. That’s why on Wednesday evening (24.8.) the ARD “daily topics” will be broadcast live from Kyiv from 10.15 p.m., moderated by Caren Miosga, as the responsible NDR reports. August 24 is a special day, because on the one hand the war of aggression has already lasted six months and at the same time it is Ukraine’s Independence Day from the Soviet Union (August 24, 1991).

According to ARD, Miosga has spoken to Ukrainians about their lives and surviving in the war over the past few days on a reportage trip together with WDR reporter Vassili Golod. It went from the Polish-Ukrainian border to Lviv, via Chernivtsi to Kyiv. Other locations were Bucha, Moschtschun and Irpin. The week-long trip ends this Wednesday.

The reports are published on the social media of tagesschau and tagesschau.de and broadcast on several television programs on ARD, WDR and tagesschau24. The focus of the reportage trip are the Ukrainians themselves: how do the people keep the country running despite shelling and destruction? What are their biggest worries and needs? And what gives them strength and hope for a life in peace and freedom?
