The Grimme Prize is Germany’s most important award for quality television. The Grimme Institute wants to announce the winners this Thursday.

The Grimme Institute in Marl will announce on Thursday (March 14th) who will receive the coveted trophy for quality television this year. A total of 64 productions and individual performances were nominated for the renowned Grimme Prize. Now the jurors have made their decisions. There will still be a few days between the announcement and the award ceremony – the award gala will take place on April 26th in Marl.

In the running are, among others, Sarah Bosetti for “Bosetti Late Night” in the entertainment area and actor and director Bjarne Mädel with the crime drama “Sörensen Catches Fire” in the “Fiction” area. The ZDF production “I am! Margot Friedländer” about the life story of Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer is also nominated.

The Grimme Prizes do not involve any money, but are considered highly prestigious among television people. They are intended to honor television programs and performances “that are exemplary and model for program practice,” as it is said. The award has been presented annually since 1964. The prize sponsor is the German Adult Education Association (DVV).
