Tegernsee oligarch Usmanow wants to stop EU sanctions against him

The lawyers of the billionaire Alisher Usmanow may go before the Federal Constitutional Court. It’s about fundamentals: How effective is the action taken against those super-rich who, from the EU’s point of view, support the Putin system – and thus at least indirectly contribute to the war against Ukraine?

Alisher Usmanow hasn’t been to the Tegernsee in the Bavarian mountains for a year, where he used to like to spend a lot of time in a villa by the lake. The billionaire from Uzbekistan was put on the sanctions lists by the European Union (EU) immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine; as a “Kremlin-friendly oligarch” who has particularly close ties to President Vladimir Putin. Usmanow then preferred to leave the Tegernsee.
