Teen jailed for hitting another with dumbbells

Pending his judgment in the children’s court at the end of September, he was placed in pre-trial detention on Saturday. A 16-year-old is suspected of violently hitting another young man using dumbbells, the newspaper reports West France. The victim, a 15-year-old boy, was found injured and lifeless on Monday by passers-by at L’Hermitage near Rennes. The track of the accident had quickly been abandoned, after the doctors found that the young man, transported to hospital in Rennes in absolute emergency, had the cranium depressed.

A few days later, the gendarmes were able to find the suspect after the testimony of his mother, to whom he had confided. After a hectic arrest, he was “prosecuted for facts […] of theft with violence with temporary interruption of work greater than or equal to eight days and rebellion”, indicates to West France Philippe Astruc, the public prosecutor of Rennes.
