Why adopt black in a teenager’s room?
The child’s room is mainly a space dedicated to play and sleep. The teenager’s bedroom, on the other hand, tends to quickly become a real headquarters. Not only does your teenager spend time there, but he often receives his friends there. In short ! The bedroom should reflect his personality, but also be stylish and peaceful enough to be conducive to rest.
Sober, elegant and gender neutral, black is a safe bet in a teenager’s room, because it is enough on its own to create a cosy, sophisticated and soothing space. Neutral color par excellence, it also has the advantage of adapting to all colors and all styles. It is therefore all the more effective if your teenager is looking for himself: with him, it does not matter that his tastes change every six months, because all you have to do is play with textiles and accessories to radically change the decor!
To create a comfortable and flexible space for your teenager, you can serenely bet on the combination of black and Scandinavian furniture, which stands out for its clean lines and functionality.
Using just one black wall keeps your teenager’s room pleasantly bright. It is also a very effective trick to visually enlarge the room.
To give depth to the bedroom, the wall facing the front door is normally painted. In a small teenager’s room, it may be wise to adopt this solution, even if it is the wall on which the window is located.
To choose the section of wall on which to apply the color, it is essential to take into account the position of the window. This is all the more true in the case of black, which absorbs luminosity. It is therefore a question of choosing the most suitable section of wall on a case-by-case basis, depending on the configuration of your teenager’s room.
Teenage room: the black wall has an effect
The black painted accent wall is a real asset to enlarge the room, but also to create a characterful decor in a teenager’s room. However, nothing prevents you from thinking a little off the beaten track to create a more dynamic decor. Because the time when we fully painted a section of wall is over: when it comes to painting, the trend is towards creativity!
The bed in the corner is a classic in a small teenager’s room – in which it is important to reserve space for the desk and the dressing room. Here, we simply painted a large square on the wall: a simple effect to achieve, which is enough to make the sleeping area cozier. On the ceiling, we opted for wide stripes, a pattern just as easy to create, and which has a maximum effect.
The secret to a small space that seems much bigger than it is is to structure it well. So we carefully split the wall (and the room!) in two, and created a platform to install the bed. And here is a teenager’s room that has nothing to envy to an authentic studio!
Brighter than the accent wall entirely painted in black, more dynamic than the basement? Simply take a roll of masking tape across a diagonal, and you’re done!
