The Finns are the happiest people in the world. For the sixth time in a row, they have topped the World Happiness Report rankings. But the country is also at the forefront in other areas, for example when it comes to future technologies such as artificial intelligence, the development of quantum computers or new technologies for biomedical applications. According to the EU Desi Index, Finland is the most digitalized country in Europe. “In many areas such as e-prescriptions and the use of digital devices in schools, Finland is ten years ahead of Germany,” says Jan Feller, managing director of the German Chamber of Commerce Abroad in Finland. The sparsely populated country with 5.5 million inhabitants also occupies a top spot when it comes to sustainability, according to the UN Sustainability Development Report 2023.
